PFund Foundation Scholarship (No Citizenship Requirement)

About:  As the upper Midwest LGBTQ regional community foundation, PFund Foundation recognizes that dedicated, connected and supported generations of LGBTQ leaders are central to the resilience and health of our communities. PFund scholars embody both courage and commitment to advancing change. The scholarship program awards lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and allied individuals for their commitment to leadership within LGBTQ communities. College Possible students have won this scholarship most years since 2006!

How much? Awards range from $1,000 to $10,000

Who can apply?

  • LGBTQ or allied student
  • Resident of Minnesota or surrounding states
  • Not a current PFund board member or partner of a current PFund board member
  • Students must be enrolled in a post-secondary program for the following fall academic term

****New****Hispanic Scholarship Fund

The HSF Scholarship is designed to assist students of Hispanic heritage obtain a college degree. Scholarships are available, on a competitive basis, to:

  • High school seniors
  • Undergraduate students (all years)
  • Community college students transferring to four year universities
  • Graduate Students

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be of Hispanic Heritage
  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for High School Students
  • Minimum of 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for College and Graduate Students
  • Plan to enroll Full-Time in an accredited, not-for-profit, 4-year university, or graduate school, during the FALL of a scholarship cycle (year)
  • U.S. Citizen, Permanent Legal Resident, DACA or Eligible Non-Citizen (as defined by FAFSA)
  • Complete FAFSA or state based financial aid application (if applicable)

Dell Scholars Program

About: Dell Scholars are students who demonstrate their desire and ability to overcome barriers and to achieve their goals. Student applications will be evaluated on an individual’s determination to succeed, future goals and plans to achieve them, ability to communicate the hardships overcome or currently facing, self-motivation in completing challenging coursework, and demonstrated need for financial assistance. College Possible students have won this scholarship every year since 2008!

How much? $20,000 ($5,000/yr)

Eligibility

  • Students in an approved college readiness program (College Possible is approved for the second time this year!)
  • GPA of 2.4 or higher
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Pell grant eligible
  • S. citizen or permanent resident

KPMG Future Leaders Program

About: The KPMG Women’s Leadership Summit is part of a multi-faceted, KPMG women’s leadership platform, focused on the development, advancement, and empowerment of future generations of women leaders. In partnership with the Office of Condoleezza Rice, it is rolling out its charitable pillar, the KPMG Future Leaders Program. 16 top high school senior female students from around the country will be selected by the Office of Condoleezza Rice, to participate in the program. A College Possible student won this in award in its first year!

How much? $10,000/renewable, in addition to participation in a mentoring program and retreat at Stanford

Who can apply?

  • Female high school senior
  • S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Displayed interest in STEM or business academic track

AAUW Branch of Minneapolis (No Citizenship Requirement)

About: The Scholarship Fund of the Minneapolis Branch of AAUW will be offering two four-year scholarship to young women graduating from a Minneapolis Public High School. Women graduating with a G.P.A. of at least 3.0 and a documented financial need are encouraged to apply. College Possible students win this scholarship!

How much? $4,000/renewable

Who can apply?

  • Female
  • Graduating senior from MPS
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Educational goal of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year institution

Wallin Scholarship (No Citizenship Requirement)

About: Wallin Education Partners awards college scholarships to high potential students with financial need. Awards are $16,000 for four years (maximum of $4,000 per year) and can be used for any cost of attendance at an eligible college or university (e.g., tuition, fees, books, room, board, etc.). Selected scholars receive personalized and professional advising services to ensure college success. College Possible students have won this scholarship every year since 2003!

Scholarship Amount: $16,000 over four years

Eligibility:

  • Senior at any College Possible high school
  • Apply to at least one eligible four-year college or university (MN, WI, IA, ND, SD or HBCUs)
  • Un-weighted GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • ACT score of 19 or higher
  • Family taxable income no more than $75,000
  • College academic readiness, motivation, and leadership are considering factor in the selection process

Minnesota Supreme Court Historical Society Essay Contest (No Citizenship or GPA Requirement)

About: The Minnesota Supreme Court Historical Society, with the support of the Minnesota Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates and the Civil Litigation Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association, is sponsoring an essay contest that is open to Minnesota high school juniors and seniors. Students have an opportunity to compete for scholarships as they examine the role of the judiciary in our society. College Possible students have won this scholarship!

Scholarship Amount: nine $500 awards

Eligibility:

  • MN high school junior or senior

Vernetta Wilson Memorial Scholarship

About: The Vernetta Wilson Memorial Scholarship Fund was formed in late 1987 in honor of a departed sorority sister, Vernetta Wilson, an active member of the community whose passion in life was working with young adults. The scholarship is part of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Minneapolis/St. Paul Alumnae Chapter’s larger commitment to provide encouragement and support to African American students who choose higher education as their goal. College Possible students have won this scholarship almost every year since 2008!

How much? From $500 and $1,500

Eligibility

  • African-American Minnesota resident
  • Enrolling in a U.S. accredited college or university in the Fall of 2016
  • Minimum GPA of 2.7 (unweighted)
  • Active volunteer in community service activities (minimum 30 hours)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills

  • University of Minnesota Twin Cities College of Liberal Arts Scholarship (Institutional): for students who are admitted to CLA. Max award is $6,000.   • CSB/SJU I-LEAD (Institutional): Intercultural LEAD is a four-year cohort program for first-gen college students, with monthly seminars throughout the four-year college experience, as well as retreats at the beginning and end of each year. Additional grant money to assist with study abroad, internship, or other development activities available for I-LEAD scholars. Max award is $10,000/yr.   • Augsburg College President’s Scholarship (Institutional): for students with exceptional academic ability (3.5 or higher OR a 27 or greater on their ACT) with strong evidence of leadership potential.   • University of Wisconsin Stout University Foundation Scholarships (Institutional): awarded to undergraduate and graduate students through a highly competitive process. Max awards vary.   • Northland College College Possible Scholarship (Institutional): All College Possible graduates who enroll Northland College in the fall of 2018 will receive the College Possible Scholarship, worth $25,000 per year. After factoring in all available sources of federal and state aid (including grants, loans, but excluding work study), College Possible graduates who are eligible for federal financial aid will receive a grant that reduces the annual amount due to be no more than $3,000 beyond the student’s reported expected family contribution. http://www.northland.edu/
